Course Trainers

Leigh Davis

Leigh Davis has been practicing law in Halifax for more than 20 years and has a practice focusing on all areas of family law, including complex litigation and high conflict matrimonial disputes. Leigh is also a highly skilled and experienced dispute resolution professional and is passionate about offering dispute resolution services and training. She is committed to raising the profile of family dispute resolution in Nova Scotia.

Leigh has extensive training in mediation, arbitration, med-arb, and parenting co-ordination processes. She is certified as an Accredited Family Mediator (AccFM) with the Ontario Association of Family Mediation, a Certified Specialist in Family Mediation (FDRP Med.) and Qualified Family Arbitration Screener (QFAS) with the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario, and a Qualified Mediator (Q. Med.) with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada.

Leigh also serves as a Vice Chair of the Nova Scotia Labour Board and an Adjudicator in the Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia.

Angela Walker, K.C.

Angela is a partner at MDW Law and has practiced exclusively in family law since 2007. Angela is a firm believer in the power of ADR approaches to resolving disputes, particularly in the realm of family law.

Angela is a Chartered Mediator, a designation she received through ADR Atlantic in 2020. Angela completed intensive family mediation training at Riverdale Mediation, Toronto in 2019. Angela is also trained in collaborative family law. Angela has her law degree from UBC and her MPA from Dalhousie University. Angela has mediated in all areas of family law including complex financial matters and asset division, the analysis and division of business assets, child and spousal support, and parenting. Angela was awarded Best Family Lawyer – Mediation in Nova Scotia in 2022 by Best Lawyers, Canada.

Angela loves teaching and sharing knowledge. Angela recently co-taught family law at the Faculty of Law, Dalhousie University. Angela is an engaging and energizing presenter who is able to distill complex matters into practical application.

Angela also serves as an Adjudicator in the Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia.
