About
Ashley joined MDW Law as a legal assistant in 2015, and completed her articling term at the firm in April 2017. She now practices in family law and personal injury law. Ashley feels most comfortable when she is busy and is right at home in pressure situations. She enjoys research, legal writing and oral advocacy and hopes to continue to hone her skills under the guidance of the partners and associates at MDW Law.
Ashley has past experience in the fields of American health care and insurance law and property law, but much prefers the more client-focused aspects of family and personal injury law. She is particularly passionate about helping to negotiate fair settlements that are workable and practical for both sides of the issue. Ashley hopes to grow her practice in the areas of adoptions and surrogacy law, as she enjoys bringing families together and the joy and excitement that comes with it.
Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Ashley came to Halifax to play varsity soccer at Saint Mary’s University, and continued playing in her first year of law school at Dalhousie. She is still active in the soccer community, and immensely enjoys coaching with the Nova Scotia Provincial Girls and a club team with Halifax County United soccer club.
When not in the office or at the soccer pitch, Ashley can be found reading voraciously in one of two places: curled up on her favourite couch, or, when the weather allows, lounging on her back deck.
