Bernie is an associate at MDW Law and practices both family law and criminal law. In his legal practice, Bernie has learned that it is not unusual for those in the midst of a separation to also be facing criminal charges related to the relationship’s breakdown. Bernie understands that a criminal proceeding can have implications upon a family proceeding and vice versa. How either matter is dealt with will depend on your goals and interests in both proceedings. In many cases it is beneficial to have both your matters dealt with by the same firm or at times, the same lawyer. The benefit of choosing MDW Law is the assurance you will have knowing that Bernie will be committed to meeting your interests in the family law matter while ensuring your rights are protected in the criminal law matter. If Bernie is not handling your family law matter you will know that he will be collaborating closely with your family law lawyer here at MDW Law.
Bernie has a broad educational background in both the arts and sciences. Bernie has completed his Bachelor of Science in Psychology, at Dalhousie University in 2002, his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, at Saint Mary’s University, in 2006 and his Bachelor of Laws, at Dalhousie University, in 2009. Bernie has been a practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society since June 2011.
Like his educational experience, Bernie’s personal life is also well rounded. He enjoys many outdoor activities and is a bit of a “gym rat”. Balancing the mental with the physical is integral to keeping Bernie sharp in his professional life. Most important to Bernie however, is his family. He is a proud father of two young daughters and husband to an equally accomplished wife (if not more so). If Bernie is not in the office he is likely to be found in his backyard (weather permitting), enjoying the company of his family and perhaps also enjoying a cold beverage.
